![]() The symptoms of bacterial gastro are similar to those of viral gastro - watery diarrhoea with or without vomiting, but the fever may be higher and the diarrhoea may contain blood (red or brown in colour) or mucus. Dehydration due to loss of fluids from vomiting and diarrhoea is the main concern with gastro in young children as it can cause infants to become seriously ill. Check to see if your child has symptoms of dehydration. If your child has diarrhoea and shows any signs of dehydration, see your doctor immediately.
